Hyundai sets up 11 fast charging stations across India

Hyundai has set up 11 DC fast chargers across key locations in India, serving Hyundai and non-Hyundai branded EVs. The set-up stations consist of 150kW, 60kW and 30kW DC fast chargers to support EVs with different capacities.

Hyundai has successfully expanded its electric vehicle charging infrastructure to 11 locations across the country. Unlike other carmakers who are yet to establish their own EV charging stations, Hyundai set up 11 charging stations, with a minimum fast charging capacity of 30kW. Hyundai says that most of these charging stations are open 24×7 and located near restaurants, shopping complexes and other utilities.

Speaking of the fast chargers, each charging station consists of three fast chargers, offering 150kW, 60kW and 30kW fast charging capacities. On the costing front, Hyundai plans to charge INR 18 per unit for 30kW, INR 21 for 60kW and INR 24 for 150kW. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 customers will be able to benefit from the 150kW fast charger and juice up the battery from 10 to 80% in under 21 minutes.

These chargers are set up across 6 cities in India — Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Gurugram and Bangalore. Five of these charges are set up on the major national highways connecting major cities such as Delhi-Chandigarh, Delhi-Jaipur, Hyderabad-Vijayawada, Mumbai-Surat and Mumbai-Nashik. The fast charging stations can be located via the myHyundai app, which also boasts details of over 2,900+ charging stations across the country. Furthermore, the app also allows users to pre-book the charger, charge status monitoring and digital payment facility as well.

Going forward, Hyundai aims to set up 10 additional fast charging stations in 2024. The addition of 10 additional fast charging stations at new locations will fall under Hyundai’s roadmap of installing 100 fast charging stations by 2027, as per the agreement formed with the Government of Tamil Nadu.

On the announcement of the charging station expansion, Jae Wan Ryu, executive director, of corporate planning at Hyundai Motor India, said “The expansion of our UltraFast charging stations to 11 locations is a step in the same direction. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. is the only OEM in the country to set up 11 Ultra-fast charging stations in public locations. We are committed to India and we will continue strengthening the charging infrastructure in line with the Indian Government’s resolve for Electrification.”
