Hyundai Motor India’s unwavering momentum continues as it surpasses the 50,000-unit monthly sales mark for the third time this year. June 2023 witnessed the domestic market embrace 50,001 units, indicating a commendable 2% year-on-year growth from June 2022’s 49,001 units.
This accomplishment marks the third instance this year that Hyundai, based in Chennai, has surpassed 50,000 monthly sales, following impressive performances in January (50,106 units) and March (50,600 units). Elevating its first-half sales (January-June 2023) to 296,010 units, a remarkable 10.46% surge from the same period last year (January-June 2022: 267,967 units).
As we delve into the second quarter of CY2023, the sales landscape appears robust yet steady. The Q2 CY2023 sales of 148,303 units showcase a 0.40% increase from Q1 CY2023’s 147,707 units.
Tarun Garg, COO of Hyundai Motor India, affirms the positive customer traction across their offerings. The Hyundai Verna, Creta, and Tucson have notably established themselves as leaders in their respective segments during the first half of CY2023. Anticipation brews for the Hyundai Exter, an upcoming SUV that is already creating exhilaration among customers. Garg expresses excitement about introducing the benchmark SUV to the Indian market.
The Creta remains a front-runner in India’s midsize SUV market, boasting 28,635 units sold in April-May 2023 with a remarkable 21% YoY growth. The new Verna has captured customer demand impressively, with 7,688 units sold (238% YoY growth). The compact Venue SUV has showcased a 23% YoY growth in the initial two months of FY2024, securing 20,555 units.
With Hyundai’s upcoming launch of the Exter on July 10, the company aims to further establish its prominence. The mini-SUV, equipped with petrol and petrol-CNG powertrain options, introduces segment-first features such as a sunroof and dashcam, setting the stage for an even more exciting chapter in Hyundai’s journey.
