Hyundai Mobis partners with TRUE Assistive Technology to enhance accessibility

In response to the growing need for assistive technology in India, TRUE Assistive Technology, a Bangalore-based company, has partnered with Hyundai Mobis, India’s second-largest automobile manufacturer. This collaboration aims to address the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and senior citizens with mobility issues by offering TRUE Assistive Technology’s accessible car seat solutions.

Founder of TRUE Assistive Technology, Naina Padaki, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating that joining forces with Hyundai Mobis is a first-of-its-kind opportunity. She emphasised the mission to make mobility accessible to all, foreseeing the positive impact on individuals’ lives, enabling them to lead independent and fulfilling lives.

Mr. Yong Goon Park, Managing Director at Hyundai Mobis, highlighted the significance of the partnership. He underscored the role of TRUE Assistive Technology’s accessible car seat solutions in improving the quality of travel and life for those facing mobility challenges. Mr. Park also emphasised Hyundai Mobis’ commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of people with disabilities on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

India has approximately 2.68 crore people with disabilities, with 20% experiencing movement difficulties affecting their daily commute. Getting in and out of cars poses a significant challenge, and existing solutions are either locally modified products or expensive imported options with limited availability and cumbersome after-sales experiences.

TRUE Assistive Technology’s signature product, TurnPlus, addresses the mobility challenges faced by individuals with disabilities. TurnPlus is a patented, award-winning swivel seat mechanism designed for easy installation in cars, enabling a seamless commute and independent movement. The mechanism is engineered to retain the original seat, track, and reclining motion without modifying the car’s structure or core functionality.

The TurnPlus mechanism can be installed in 80% of Indian cars in less than 5 hours, allowing for a quick and efficient enhancement of accessibility. The product ensures minimal modification to the vehicle, allowing easy removal of the mechanism and restoration of the seat to its original condition without affecting the vehicle’s resale value and can be ordered as an accessory across Hyundai showrooms in India.
