Hyundai initiates construction of research centre in Germany

Hyundai Motor Europe Technical Center GmbH (HMETC) has started building its new research and development (R&D) centre in Germany’s Rhine-Main Metropolitan Region. The facility, set to open in 2025, underlines Hyundai Motor Group’s commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and job creation.

Covering 25,000 square metres, the new building will more than double HMETC’s office and research space, providing a dynamic work environment. It will incorporate energy-efficient designs and advanced renewable energy systems in line with the Group’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint and promoting zero-emission solutions.

HMETC focuses on advancing sustainable mobility by developing electric vehicles (EVs) and tailored mobility solutions for European customers. The labs within the facility will concentrate on technological innovations, including advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), infotainment functions, and electrification.

The research centre’s facilities include the group’s largest 4W NVH Dyno, enhancing testing capabilities for a complete vehicle lineup. This investment in R&D positions the Group at the forefront of industry advancements and expands HMETC’s collaborative work environment, offering additional job opportunities in the automotive field.

Hyundai Motor Group actively seeks individuals passionate about innovation and sustainability to contribute to its diverse and inclusive work culture. The construction of this facility marks a significant milestone for HMETC and a crucial step for the Group in becoming a leading smart mobility solutions provider, advancing zero-emission mobility in Europe.
