Hyundai Motor Group is throwing its support behind Busan’s endeavor to host World Expo 2030 by deploying a fleet of electric vehicles (EVs) during the 172nd Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) General Assembly in Paris on June 20. The initiative involves 10 EVs, adorned with the Busan logo, serving as transportation for the Korean delegation and traversing prominent Paris landmarks.
The EV fleet, featuring models like Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, and Kia EV6, will be emblazoned with the message ‘Busan is Ready!’ as they tour iconic attractions such as the Louvre and Eiffel Tower. The vehicles will also play a crucial role in the official reception on June 21, shuttling representatives between the General Assembly hall and the reception venue.
With the BIE General Assembly serving as a pivotal juncture for determining the host of the 2030 World Expo, Hyundai’s EVs will symbolize Busan’s bid on the global stage. This year’s event is particularly significant as it holds the key to selecting the host nation. As the Korean delegation engages in vital presentations and negotiations within the General Assembly, Hyundai’s EV fleet will enhance Busan’s visibility and appeal to the international audience.
Hyundai’s decision to exclusively employ dedicated EVs for this effort aligns with the sustainable theme of the Busan World Expo proposal: ‘Transforming Our World, Navigating Toward a Better Future.’ The move underscores Hyundai’s commitment to supporting environmentally conscious initiatives that resonate with the Expo’s vision.
This collaboration builds on Hyundai’s previous engagements in 2022, where it harnessed its eco-friendly vehicle lineup to create a positive buzz. During the 170-171st BIE General Assembly in June and November 2022, Hyundai showcased its vehicles wrapped with the Busan World Expo logo across renowned Parisian landmarks. Models like Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kona Electric, and Tucson became mobile ambassadors, effectively promoting Busan’s bid for the Expo.
As Hyundai Motor Group once again takes center stage in the international arena, its EV fleet will not only provide efficient transport but also spotlight Busan’s aspiration to host the World Expo 2030.
