Honda Motor Co., Ltd. President and Representative, Toshihiro Mibe, unveiled the company’s vision for future mobility at the Japan Mobility Show 2023, formerly known as the Tokyo Motor Show. The event not only showcased Honda’s commitment to automobiles and motorcycles but also provided a glimpse into a broader range of mobility solutions.

A Legacy of Dreams

Honda, celebrating its 75th anniversary, emphasized its long-standing commitment to turning dreams into reality. The company’s global brand slogan, “The Power of Dreams — How we move you,” reflects its mission to move people not only physically but also emotionally, allowing individuals to realize their aspirations.

Mibe expressed the significance of dreams in Honda’s journey and the company’s belief that dreams have the power to expand into the future. The theme of their booth, “Honda Dream Loop,” symbolizes the infinite loop where people’s dreams continue to grow, starting with mobility products that embody Honda’s vision.

Transcending Constraints and Augmenting Possibilities

Honda’s approach to future mobility revolves around two key values: “transcend” and “augment.” These values aim to help people transcend constraints such as time, place, and limited resources and augment their abilities and possibilities.

Cruise Origin Autonomous Vehicle: Honda introduced the Cruise Origin, an autonomous vehicle that offers passengers a private space to make the most of their travel time. This concept is designed to transcend the constraint of time and will soon be part of a driverless ride-hail service in Japan in 2026.

Honda eVTOL and HondaJet: These aircraft will extend mobility into the skies, enabling people to transcend the constraints of place and distance. The goal is to make long-distance travel more accessible, promoting better work-life balance.

SUSTAINA-C Concept: This sustainable car, made from recycled acrylic resin, aims to transcend the constraints of limited resources, ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.

Honda Avatar Robot and UNI-ONE: The Honda Avatar Robot allows remote operation, enabling individuals to perform tasks and experience events as if they were present. The UNI-ONE mobility device simplifies steering, offering greater mobility to individuals with constraints.

Honda CI-MEV Self-Driving Micro-Mobility Vehicle: This vehicle will expand living radius for those facing mobility challenges due to age or location.

A Generative AI-Powered Experience

Using generative AI, the company will generate design drawings of future mobility ideas and project them on the “Loop Screen” inside the booth at to the JAPAN MOBILITY SHOW. Honda plans to select a few of these ideas for further development.

The Prelude Concept

Mibe concluded his presentation with the unveiling of the “Prelude Concept,” a specialty sports model that will inherit the “joy of driving” into the fully electrified future. Honda’s dedication to creating sporty vehicles and the promise of extraordinary excitement are embodied in this model.
