Honda Cars India announced on Tuesday its intention to implement a price hike on its vehicles starting next month, as part of its strategy to mitigate the impact of escalating input costs. Currently, the automaker offers two models, namely the City and Amaze, in the domestic market.
Kunal Behl, Vice President (Sales and Marketing) at Honda Cars India, stated, “We have been trying to absorb accumulated cost pressures as much as possible. We will carry out a price revision on City and Amaze from September to partially offset the impact of increasing input costs.” He further emphasized that the company is in the process of determining the extent of the price increase.
While the specific amount of the price adjustment is yet to be finalized, it is expected that the changes will reflect the ongoing challenge of rising input costs for the automotive industry. Currently, the Amaze compact sedan is priced starting at INR 7.05 lakh, the mid-sized sedan City begins at INR 11.57 lakh, and the hybrid variant City e:HEV starts at INR 18.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
Honda Cars India’s decision to adjust prices is in line with similar moves made by various automakers facing supply chain disruptions and increasing costs of raw materials. The price revision aims to strike a balance between the company’s commitment to customers and the necessity to manage cost pressures effectively.
