Hero MotoCorp to launch EVs in the UK and European markets

The company's strategic move will commence with the launch of its electric scooter brand, VIDA V1.

India’s leading motorcycle manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has unveiled its ambitious plans to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) into the UK and other European markets. The company’s strategic move will commence with the launch of its electric scooter brand, VIDA V1, and the initiation of commercial operations in Spain and France by mid-2024. Hero’s vision for the European market extends beyond EVs, with plans to expand its premium range of internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles and scooters throughout the continent.

Market expansion and distributors

As part of Hero’s venture into the UK and Europe, the company has enlisted distributors to facilitate market penetration. In the UK, Hero’s distributor is Motogb, while GD France and Noria Motos, a subsidiary of the Onex Group, will serve as distributors in France and Spain, respectively. These strategic partnerships aim to ensure a robust and efficient entry into these markets.

Hero’s growing presence in India

Hero MotoCorp’s foray into international EV markets aligns with its ongoing efforts to bolster its electric presence in its home country, India. The company is diligently working towards expanding its EV footprint and is well on track to establish its presence in 100 Indian cities by December. This domestic expansion mirrors the broader global trend towards electric mobility and is a testament to Hero’s commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly transportation.

Driving the future of mobility

Hero’s introduction of electric scooters and plans to enhance its ICE motorcycle and scooter range in Europe are poised to reshape the future of mobility in these markets. The move also underscores the growing importance of electric and eco-conscious transportation solutions, both globally and regionally. Hero MotoCorp’s strategic endeavours will contribute to the ongoing transition towards cleaner and more sustainable forms of transportation, benefitting consumers and the environment alike.
