Hero first took the wraps off the new Mavrick 440 at the Hero World 2024 alongside the debut of Xtreme 125R. While the Mavrick does share its underpinnings with its Harley Davidson stablemate, it brings fewer features to the table to keep the pricing competitive. Still, the Mavrick is the most expensive Hero to go on sale to date.
Sitting at the heart of the Hero Mavrick is the same 440cc air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine that also powers the Harley Davidson X440. It puts out 27PS of power at 6000rpm and 36Nm of torque at 4000rpm. Furthermore, the engine is tuned to deliver 90% of its torque from 2000rpm, which should mean impressive low-end torque for all kinds of city errands. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with slip and assist clutch.
Speaking of other amenities, the Mavrick features roadster-like ergonomics, an upright position, a spacious seat, and optimised riding ergonomics. It runs on 17-inch wheels at either end, with both spoke and alloy options. Furthermore, the Mavrick boasts 43mm conventional telescopic forks up front and 7-step preload-adjustable twin shock absorbers at the rear.
On the features front, the Hero Mavrick offers an all-LED headlight, a digital speedometer, and smartphone connectivity with features such as incoming call alert, turn-by-turn navigation, low fuel indicator, RTMi display, distance to empty and e-SIM connectivity for telematics. Its e-SIM-based telematics further offers more than 35 functions including real-time information and remote tracking.
Coming to its variants and colour options, Hero offers the Mavrick in 3 variants and five colour options. The 3 variants include Base at INR 2 lakh, Mid at INR 2.14 lakh and Top at INR 2.24 lakh ex-showroom. The Base variant is available in a single Arctic White colour option while the Mid variant offers the choice between Celestial Blue and Fearless Red. Lastly, the top variant offers Phantom Black and Enigma Black colour options.
Hero has begun accepting bookings for the Mavrick 440 PAN India while its deliveries will begin in April. Customers who book the motorcycle before March 15 will get a customised Mavrick accessories kit and merchandise which is said to worth INR 10,000.
