Texas-based tuner Hennessey has unleashed their H850 Mustang Dark Horse, a high-performance upgrade that injects the pony car with a monstrous dose of power. Production has officially begun, and the H850 boasts a staggering 850 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, a far cry from the stock Dark Horse’s 500 hp and 418 lb-ft.
The secret to the H850’s impressive muscle lies under the hood. Hennessey equips the 5.0-litre V8 with a supercharger, a new high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors, and a specially calibrated engine tune. This potent combination translates to exhilarating performance gains.
The H850’s acceleration is neck-snapping. With a 10-speed automatic transmission, it rockets from 0-60 mph in a mere 3.2 seconds, a significant improvement over the stock Dark Horse’s 3.7 seconds. The dominance continues at the quarter-mile mark, where the H850 devours the distance in just 10.9 seconds at a blistering 133 mph. The stock Dark Horse, in comparison, takes 12 seconds to complete the quarter-mile at 118.4 mph.
While Hennessey remains tight-lipped on pricing, they emphasise that the H850 delivers exceptional value. For the aggressive performance it offers, the package includes embroidered headrests, H850 badging, and a comprehensive 3-year/36,000-mile warranty. Those who crave a more traditional driving experience can also opt for a car equipped with a manual transmission.
John Hennessey, CEO of the company, expressed his excitement for the project: “Our supercharged H850 Mustang Dark Horse builds on Ford’s dedication to offering gearheads thrilling products like the S650 Mustang with its powerful V8. We’re proud to unleash Hennessey’s passion for performance on America’s legendary muscle car. The H850 promises an unforgettable driving experience that delivers an exhilarating combination of sights, sounds, smells, and adrenaline-pumping sensations.”
