In a move to enhance its production capabilities, premium tyre manufacturer Hankook is set to incorporate a new Truck Bus Radial (TBR) production line into its European Plant. The approval for this expansion project at the Rácalmás plant in Hungary was granted by the Board of Directors on November 23.
Hankook’s Rácalmás plant, completed in 2007, has played a pivotal role in the company’s European expansion efforts. The European plant, having successfully concluded its third phase of construction, is equipped with cutting-edge manufacturing facilities capable of producing 17 million passenger car and light truck (PCLT) tyres annually. Furthermore, this facility achieved the esteemed International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification this year, highlightingHankook’s efforts towards sustainability.
To realise this expansion, Hankook will be investing approximately EUR 540 million in the project, with the target completion set for 2027. This substantial investment is expected to generate around 450 new job opportunities. Once operational, the Rácalmás plant is projected to manufacture 2,380 units of TBR products daily, reaching an estimated total annual production of 800,000 units.
Currently, Hankook boasts a global presence with eight production sites strategically positioned around the world. This latest expansion aligns with the company’s commitment to meeting the increasing demand for high-quality tyres. Hankook’s global production capacity is already substantial, contributing to a total output of about 102 million tyres per year.
