Goodyear Tyre & Rubber Co announced the appointment of Stellantis executive Mark Stewart as its new CEO, succeeding the long-time top boss, Richard Kramer. This decision comes after Stewart’s successful leadership in steering Stellantis’ electric vehicle (EV) transformation in North America.
Mark Stewart, known for his pivotal role in driving Stellantis’ EV initiatives, will take over the reins from Richard Kramer, who has served as Goodyear’s CEO for 14 years. Kramer, who previously announced his retirement plans, will continue to contribute to Goodyear in an advisory capacity.
Stewart’s experience and leadership in the automotive industry, particularly in navigating the EV landscape, align with Goodyear’s commitment to innovation and adaptation to emerging trends. Goodyear, a prominent tyre manufacturer, has been undergoing strategic changes, including initiatives to streamline its business. Last year, the company unveiled plans to explore strategic alternatives for its chemical business, Dunlop brand, and Off-the-Road equipment tyre business.
In a separate announcement on Tuesday, Stellantis revealed that Carlos Zarlenga would succeed Mark Stewart in North America. The transition aims to “leverage further improvements” for the brand in the region.
As Goodyear looks toward the future under new leadership, the company anticipates leveraging Stewart’s expertise to drive innovation, navigate industry shifts, and continue its legacy as a leading player in the global tyre market. The appointment reflects Goodyear’s commitment to staying at the forefront of advancements in the automotive and tyre manufacturing sectors.
