Goodwood FoS 2024: BYD, Yangwang, and Denza to showcase vehicle line-up

BYD and its luxury sub-brand Yangwang have partnered with the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will take place this year from 11-14 July. This marks the Goodwood debut of both these Chinese EV brands.

BYD will showcase its brand-new Seal U DM-i, a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) five-seater SUV. It is BYD’s first PHEV model in Europe with the company’s Super DM (Dual Mode) technology. The D-segment family SUV will make its UK debut in autumn this year. Alongside the Seal U DM-I, BYD will also display the Atto 3, Dolphin, and standard Seal models at the event.

Yangwang will unveil its all-new off-roader, the U8, and the U9 performance vehicle at Goodwood. The U8 features cutting-edge technologies, like the e⁴ Platform and the DiSus-P Intelligent Hydraulic Body Control System. Unique feature offerings on the U8 include a VOT function (Vehicle Origin Turn), Tyre Blowout Stabilisation, and emergency flotation. The hybrid U8 boasts 1,200 horsepower and can sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 3.6 seconds.

The U9 is Yangwang’s all-electric supercar that packs in 1,300 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1,680Nm. It can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in just 2.36 seconds. Built on the same e⁴ Platform as the U8 and featuring the company’s DiSus-X Intelligent Active Body Control System, the U9 offers four-wheel independent torque output control.

In addition to the Yangwang model line-up, BYD will also present the Denza D9 at Goodwood, marking its UK debut. The D9 is a premium all-electric MPV offering with the capacity to seat seven (2+2+3 configuration). In 2023, the Denza D9 was the highest-selling MPV in China, with over 119,000 units sold.

Sharing his thoughts on the collaboration, Michael Shu, MD of BYD Europe said, “The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the most significant automotive events in the world…this event is the perfect platform to present our unprecedented new energy vehicle technologies and introduce our pioneering vehicles from both BYD and Yangwang…we look forward to engaging with visitors and demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and cutting-edge technology.”
