Genesis Neulon, Magma performance concepts unveiled

Genesis Neulon

The new Neulon marks Genesis’ entry into the full-size electric family SUV segment. The Neulon boasts multiple innovative features up its sleeves, which help it stand apart from its Kia sibling — the EV9. The Genesis Neulon concept features the reductive design approach carrying a seamless and uninterrupted design all around. A few of its unique features include coach doors, which eliminate the need for B-pillars, electrically-retractable footsteps and swivelling front seats.

On the inside, the new Neulon SUV concept features a radiant heating system, which follows the principles of Korea’s traditional “ondol” concept. The traditional heating concept utilises direct heat transfer from underneath the floor to provide warmth, working in conjunction with the heating films on the dashboard, door trims, floor, seatbacks and console sides.

Its design also makes it unmistakably Genesis, thanks to the uniquely-styled LED lighting, which also mimics the design of the brand’s signature radiator grille. Genesis is yet to reveal the battery specifications and power tune options for the new Neulon.

Genesis Magma — Korea’s take on luxury performance

The new performance sub-brand Magma heralds the Korean luxury carmaker into the world of performance. The brand has been announced with the new GV60 Magma Concept, along with the GV80 Concept Coupe, G80 Magma Special and X Gran Berlinetta Concept. With the launch of the performance sub-division, Genesis is poised to roll out a Magma special model for each of its production lineup currently on sale.

Alongside the sportier design and meaner looks, the GV60 Magma Concept also boasts improved battery and motor technology. The model also boasts lowered suspension and wider track to boost dynamics and drop the centre of gravity. The enlarged fenders host 21-inch alloy wheels, which have been intricately designed to channel cool air to the brakes.

Ensuring to mark its resounding entry to the performance automotive landscape, Genesis shook hands with Jacky Ickx — a six-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner and multiple race-winning Formula One driver — as a brand partner to develop the Magma division.
