Gen3 Evo Formula E car to out-accelerate F1 from 0-60mph

On Thursday, the all-electric Formula E championship showcased a new Gen3 Evo car for 2025 with the claim that it would out-accelerate Formula One from 0-60 mph.

Ahead of the weekend’s Monaco ePrix, Formula E said that the net zero cars would be hitting 60 in only 1.82 seconds (0-100kph in 1.86 seconds), which is 30% faster than the current F1 cars and would be able to reach a top speed of 200 mph when ushered in Season 11.

It is poised to be the most efficient formula car with an electric motor providing more than 90% efficiency when pitted against the typical 40% of internal combustion engines.

“The Gen3 Evo heralds a ground-breaking chapter in the evolution of Formula E, embodying our dedication to innovation and high performance achieved sustainably,” series CEO Jeff Dodds said in a statement.

Mohammed Ben Sulayem, president of the governing FIA, said the car represents another significant leap forward in electric racing technology.

Another point to be noted is that this car is going to be Formula E’s first car with four-wheel drive, active for qualifying and race starts, and has stronger and more robust bodywork.
