Fisker, the American electric vehicle (EV) startup led by Danish entrepreneur Henrik Fisker, is gearing up to introduce its all-electric Ocean SUV to the Indian market. The company has unveiled plans to manufacture 100 units of the Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition SUVs tailored specifically for India.

Swift Market Entry

With the aim of rapidly establishing its brand presence in India, Fisker is preparing to initiate deliveries of the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition in the fourth quarter of 2023. The company anticipates completing the homologation process required for Indian roads by September this year.

Pricing and Strategy

Fisker’s pricing strategy for the Indian market aims to align with European prices. The Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition is named after the company’s India subsidiary. It will be available at a cost reflecting European pricing along with import duties and logistical considerations for India.

Henrik Fisker’s Vision

Expressing excitement about the prospects in India, Henrik Fisker, Chairman and CEO of Fisker, emphasized the unique opportunities the Indian market offers. He stated that following the successful rollouts in Europe and the US, Fisker is enthusiastic about introducing the Ocean Extreme with its impressive range and distinctive features to India. This marks a significant step toward the company’s rapid expansion plans in the Indian automotive landscape.

Unmatched Range

The Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition boasts remarkable specifications, including an EPA range of 360 miles (576 km) on standard 20-inch wheels and tires. This extensive range establishes it as the electric SUV with the longest range in its class. For the European market, the Fisker Ocean Extreme achieves a WLTP range of 707 km (440 UK miles) on standard 20-inch wheels and tires, making it the leader in range amongst electric SUVs available in Europe.

Hyderabad Hub

Fisker laid the groundwork for its Indian entry by establishing an office in Hyderabad in 2022. The company’s focus on completing the homologation process and setting up efficient logistics reflects its commitment to ensuring a seamless entry into India’s burgeoning EV market.

Fisker’s plans to introduce the Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition to the Indian market underscore the global shift toward electric mobility and the increasing competitiveness in the Indian EV landscape.
