Ferrari shipped 3,459 units in Q3 of 2023 globally, which is an increase of 271 units compared to the same period last year. The key volume drivers turned out to be the 296 and SF90 series. It is worth noting that the hybrid models from Ferrari, which account for four models, contributed 51% of total shipments in the quarter. It is worth mentioning that the internal combustion portfolio of Ferrari includes nine models.
As suggested by Ferrari, the F8 Spider approaching the end of its lifecycle and the ramp-up phase of 812 Competizione A and the Purosangue were the key reasons for the slump of ICE-powered sales in the third quarter of 2023. Since the Purosangue, which aims to take a pie from the dominating SUV sales, is in the ramp-up phase, it is likely to post impressive sales figures moving forward.
The key contributors to the Ferrari Q3 sales were the 296 and SF90, both of which are plug-in-hybrid models. Ferrari is currently also working on an all-electric supercar, which is due in 2025. A few reports suggest that Ferrari is already ahead of the development schedule for its first all-electric model.
There is no denying that the future of mobility is electric and Ferrari needs to adapt to the changing landscape. As a result, Ferrari projects 40% of its portfolio to be all-electric and 40% to be hybrids by the end of this decade, leaving 20% room for internal combustion engined models. To continue with ICE models, Ferrari is also investing in synthetic fuel, which is also referred to as carbon-neutral fuel.
Speaking of recent events related to Ferrari, the recently-helf Ferrari Finali Mondaiali 2023 event showcased two new exclusive Ferrari models. The first showcase was of the Ferrari 296 Challenge, which is a Challenge series racecar built on the frame of 296 GTB. The second showcase was of the 499P Modificata, which is a heavily modified track weapon iteration of the Le Mans-winning 499P racecar.
