Feon Energy, a promising startup developing advanced battery electrolytes, has secured USD 6.1 million in seed funding. This investment, led by Fine Structure Ventures, will fuel the company’s mission to create next-generation batteries with superior performance and safety.
“Electrolytes are critical for unlocking the potential of next-generation batteries, but current options hinder commercialization,” said Feon Energy CEO Wenxiao Huang. “Our unique platform allows us to design custom electrolyte molecules for each battery chemistry, overcoming limitations of existing one-size-fits-all solutions.”

Feon Energy’s approach centres on a platform specifically designed for advanced battery chemistries like lithium-metal and cobalt-free ultra-high-voltage lithium-ion. Their non-flammable electrolyte solutions promise significant improvements over current lithium-ion batteries, including:

Since its inception in late 2022, Feon has made significant strides. Their lithium-metal batteries boast energy densities exceeding 400 Wh/kg, a 50% improvement over current options. Pre-commercial samples are already being shipped to leading manufacturers in the automotive, aviation, and consumer electronics sectors.
Critically, Feon’s lithium-metal batteries have achieved UN 38.3 safety certification, an international standard for safe lithium battery transportation. This rigorous third-party validation confirms their ability to withstand extreme conditions, paving the way for commercial deployment.
