EV-Ready India Dashboard Predicts 45.5% CAGR Growth in EV Sales by 2030

OMI Foundation launches the EV Ready India Dashboard.

New Delhi: The OMI Foundation, in partnership with R.K. Singh, Union Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, has launched the EV-Ready India Dashboard. This digital platform is aimed at providing essential macroeconomic data and analysis on India’s rapidly growing electric mobility sector. The event was attended by various stakeholders, including representatives from the central and state governments of India, Niti Aayog, and the World Bank.

Comprehensive Real-Time Insights

The EV-Ready India Dashboard is a unique and free digital platform that harnesses the power of data and artificial intelligence. It offers a comprehensive view of India’s electric mobility landscape. It compiles sales data from all Vahan states and Telangana, providing a real-time perspective on electric vehicle (EV) adoption, battery demand, charging infrastructure, and market growth trends. This dashboard caters to a broad audience, including industry professionals, policymakers, and end-users, offering insights that are beneficial to potential EV buyers.

Projections for India’s EV Growth

The dashboard forecasts a significant 45.5% Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) between 2022 and 2030. It predicts annual sales to surge from 6,90,550 electric two-wheelers (E2Ws) in 2022 to a remarkable 1,39,36,691 E2Ws by 2030. This projection underlines the substantial potential and growth opportunities within India’s EV sector.

Key Findings and Insights

The EV-Ready India Dashboard’s launch highlighted key findings and insights:

Maharashtra and Delhi lead in the number of charging stations, with 2531 and 1815 charging stations, respectively.

Tamil Nadu is emerging as a hub for E2W manufacturing, while Telangana leads in E3W manufacturing, Maharashtra in E4W manufacturing, Gujarat in battery manufacturing, and Karnataka in research and development.

Chandigarh offers the lowest public charging supply tariff at INR 3.6/kWh, 73% below the national average of INR 13.74/kWh.

India has already saved an estimated 5.18 million tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2023, equivalent to 85.47 million tree seedlings covering an area twice the size of Lakshadweep islands.

R.K. Singh, Union Minister of Power, New and Renewable Energy, Government of India, highlighted the importance of India’s leadership in electric vehicles. He emphasized the nation’s journey towards energy independence and environmental conservation. India has made substantial progress in cutting emissions and generating renewable energy. He believes that EVs play a crucial role in reducing energy dependence and addressing environmental concerns.

Amitabh Kant, G20 Sherpa, Government of India, praised the EV-Ready India Dashboard for consolidating vital insights on electric mobility and fostering competition and collaboration among stakeholders. The dashboard offers comprehensive state-specific insights, enabling policymakers to make informed decisions and promote India’s leadership in the global EV market.

Aishwarya Raman, Executive Director of OMI Foundation emphasized that the EV-Ready India Dashboard is a milestone development that encompasses extensive research and statistical analysis. It aims to enhance knowledge, encourage ecosystem-wide collaboration, and support effective policy-making, making it a valuable tool for all those invested in India’s EV journey.

For Policymakers and Industry: The dashboard provides consolidated sales data from all 34 Vahan states and Union Territories, along with Telangana, visualized for easy understanding. It offers insights into adoption rates, trends, and projections.

Charging Infrastructure: The dashboard offers insights into charging station locations, density, and tariffs, facilitating state-level improvements.

The EV-Ready India Dashboard launch also featured a panel discussion on “Data-Driven Decision Making in the EV Sector” involving various government representatives, experts, and industry leaders, reinforcing the platform’s role in shaping India’s sustainable electric mobility future.
