CEAT unveils custom tyres for futuristic car ‘Bujji’ in sci-fi movie

The development of CEAT's custom-built tyres aligns perfectly with its vision

These bespoke tyres are engineered to handle both instant torque and cornering challenges encountered in both off-road and on-road applications.

In a groundbreaking achievement, tyre manufacturer CEAT has unveiled custom-built tyres for “Bujji,” a colossal six-ton futuristic car set to star in the upcoming sci-fi action movie – Kalki 2898 AD’. This collaboration marks CEAT’s exceptional ability to innovate and cater to the demands of even the most futuristic and challenging automotive designs.

Crafted by Mahindra and Jayem Motors, the Bujji vehicle boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 6,075 mm in length, 3,380 mm in width, and 2,186 mm in height. With a hefty kerb weight of 6 tonnes and an astounding torque of 9,800 nm, coupled with unique features like a canopy and hubless wheels, the vehicle necessitated tyres that could complement its advanced engineering capabilities.

The development of CEAT’s custom-built tyres aligns perfectly with its vision of ‘Crafting For The Curious,’ exemplifying the brand’s commitment to enabling exploration across boundaries of time and innovation.

These bespoke tyres are engineered to handle both instant torque and cornering challenges encountered in both off-road and on-road applications. With the industry’s lowest aspect ratio, they not only enhance the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal but also improve braking ability due to their wider design and larger rim fitment. The block design, coupled with a circular support base, ensures superior traction and stability, while the specially optimised shoulder design enhances cornering capabilities. Furthermore, the steel-belted construction offers unparalleled stability and puncture resistance, crucial for the vehicle’s high-performance demands.

Arnab Banerjee, MD & CEO of CEAT Limited, expressed pride in the development of the custom-built tyres for Bujji, hailing them as a testament to CEAT’s engineering prowess. He emphasised CEAT’s commitment to innovation and excellence in tyre manufacturing, stating, “We are proud to have contributed to such a revolutionary project, demonstrating our commitment to innovation and excellence in tyre manufacturing.”

Amit Tolani, Chief Executive of CEAT Specialty, hailed the collaboration on Bujji for “Kalki 2898 AD” as an incredible opportunity to push boundaries and explore new technologies and materials in tyre manufacturing. He praised Dyutiman Chatterjee and his R&D team for bringing the vision to life, setting the stage for future tyre innovation at CEAT.

The eminent filmmaker Nag Ashwin, lauded CEAT’s dedication and expertise in developing the tyres for Bujji, describing the car as not merely a prop but a character in the film. He expressed admiration for CEAT’s tyre development, which exceeded expectations and brought their visionary concept to life on screen.
