BYD YANGWANG launches U9 pure electric supercar

Chinese car manufacturer BYD has launched the first pure electric supercar model – U9 – under its high-end sub-brand, YANGWANG. The model has been launched in the home market at 1.68 million RMB while deliveries will start this summer. The U9 supercar is based on two core technologies – the e4 platform and the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, integrating track performance and street adaptability. It sports the ‘Time Gate’ design language.

BYD U9 underpinned by e4 platform

The e4 platform is a power system that features four independent electric motors as its core along with four-wheel independent torque output control, offering more safety and track-like performance. The vehicle delivers a whopping 1,300 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1680 Nm.

What’s DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System?

The DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System allows adjusting suspension travel up to 75mm, while peak single-axis lifting speed is up to 500mm/s, offering a cutting-edge driving experience in diverse driving scenarios. Additionally, the vehicle’s agility and comfort is also enhanced. The vehicle comes with a unique feature enabling it to dance to music with just a click.

Performance metrics

YANGWANG U9 can reach a top speed of 309.19 km/h and can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.36 seconds, with 0-400m acceleration in only 9.78 seconds. BYD has fine-tuned the U9’s thermal management system after rigorous testing, resulting in better resistance to high temperatures, resulting in a 100% increase in maximum cooling capacity.

Charging technology

The supercar boasts a dual plug-in ultra-fast charging technology with a maximum charging power of 500 kW. It also comes equipped with 12 sets of active and passive aerodynamic packages to reduce drag coefficient and enhance heat dissipation efficiency.

Cabin highlights

Inside, the YANGWANG U9 boats a super-carbon fibre cabin – a structure made of different materials. It also features the DiLink150 intelligent platform powered by customised 4nm 5G chips. The platform is specially designed for track driving, boasting an intelligent racing assistance and extensive track driving services with detailed information on nearly 30 racetracks across China. Seats are 14-way adjustable while a Dynaudio Evidence Series high-end audio system enhances the in-cabin experience.
