Bugatti Chiron L’Ultime: the W16 swan song

After numerous attempts at making the ‘last-ever’ Chiron, Bugatti has done the same, again. The French carmaker has revealed the Chiron L’Ultime, claimed to be THE final iteration of the Chiron that marks the end of the 500-unit production run of the W16 flagship.

Based on the Super Sport, the Chiron L’Ultime reinterprets the original Chiron that took centre stage in Geneva about eight years ago. For the final, 500th piece, the Bugatti Sur Mesure team has reimagined the original design with an interplay of fading colours and a tribute to all the places where the car has been since 2016.

The car has been finished in French Racing Blue and an Atlantic Blue with a fading effect, with one colour merging into the other. The front and rear wheels mirror the respective paint shades. A custom-made blue Bugatti emblem exclusively designed and developed for the farewell edition, sits within the grille. Featured on the bodywork are hand-written names of the places and events that helped to build the legend of the Chiron.

A special, hand-written ‘#500’, found on the exterior, the wheel caps and the rear wing is also engraved onto the engine cover. The French flag, representing the birthplace of the brand and the car, is applied to the wing mirrors. The front grille is finished in the brand’s now iconic Atlantic Blue and a special horseshoe mesh has been crafted with centred stripes.

Inside, the Chiron L’Ultime’s cockpit comes with a combination of Deep Blue leather and Blue Carbon Matt finishes, with hints of the French Racing Blue shade. The ‘#500’ can also be found on the headrests and centre console.

Sharing his thoughts on the Chiron’s swan song, Christohpe Piochon, President of Bugatti Automobiles said, “This 500th and final Chiron model is a fitting farewell that captures a defining legacy that will forever be etched in automotive history and paves the way to a bright new chapter, starting with the production of the Bolide and the W16 Mistral and continuing with the unveiling of our new model in June.”

The new model in question is Bugatti’s next flagship and the successor to the Chiron, which will be powered by the brand’s all-new V16 engine.
