BMW S 1000 XR sport bike launched at INR 22.5 lakh

BMW S 1000 XR houses a reworked in-line 4-cylinder engine.

BMW Motorrad India has launched the completely built-up unit (CBU) S 1000 XR sport bike in India at INR 22.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle is available for booking at all authorised dealerships of the company from today. It is being offered in three colour options – Blackstorm metallic, Gravityblue metallic (with Style Sports) and Lightwhite solid paint/Motorsport (with M Package).

The latest iteration of the sport bike comes with a re-designed seat with a height of 850 mm, which can be adjusted. In terms of aesthetics, the front fairing and lighting system get sharp edges and are combined with striking beading for an aggressive look. Its high flyline and sporty handlebars are designed by long-distance travel. The adjustable windshield helps the rider keep eyes on the road and the odometer, without the helmet coming in the way.

The new BMW S 1000 XR houses a reworked in-line 4-cylinder engine with a flow-optimised geometry for the intake channels. The new engine provides a smooth and powerful torque delivery, generating a peak power output of 170 hp (125 kW) at 11,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 114 Nm at 9,250 rpm. The motorcycle can accelerate from 0-100 kilometres in 3.25 seconds and can achieve maximum speed of 253 kmph.

At the rear, the bike gets new side panels and air intakes inspired by motorsports, complimenting its sporty look. The radiator trim now has a textured surface while the previously black-coloured ‘beak’ fender now painted in body colour.

The bike is being offered with an expanded standard equipment list including Touring and Dynamic package. These packages enhance comfort and provide additional performance for longer trips. Standard features on the motorcycle include riding modes pro, heater grips and cruise control. The standard headlight pro provides additional safety during night-time rides with its adaptive turning light.

Other features such as Tyre Pressure Coltrol and Hand Protection add to the safety bit. The package also includes Daytime Running Lights (DRL), keyless ride and a 12 Ah capacity battery as standard features. Additionally, a USB charging option as also now standard. An optional M package can be opted to customise the bike with M Sport seat, the M lightweight battery and the M forged wheels, among other things.
