BMW M launches in India at INR 3.25 crore

BMW has introduced its most potent M model to date in the Indian market. The XM Label edition, a limited-run version of the high-performance SUV, comes with a premium price tag of Rs 3.25 crore (approximately USD 390,000). This exclusive model is being imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), highlighting its special status in BMW’s lineup.

The XM Label is part of a highly limited global production run of just 500 units, with India receiving only one example. This scarcity adds to the vehicle’s exclusivity, though BMW has not yet disclosed the identity of the fortunate Indian customer who has secured this rare automotive gem.

Distinguishing itself from the standard XM, the Label edition boasts unique aesthetic and mechanical enhancements. The exterior is adorned in a striking Frozen Carbon Black Metallic paint, accented with bold red highlights. These red accents are prominently featured around the signature kidney grille, rear diffuser, and window lines, creating a visually arresting contrast. The vehicle sits on imposing 22-inch M light alloy wheels, further accentuated by red brake callipers.

The interior of the XM Label is equally impressive, featuring a sophisticated blend of sportiness and luxury. The cabin is dressed in premium black upholstery with eye-catching red stitching. The seats are a particular highlight, showcasing a distinctive two-tone design that combines vibrant red with sleek black. In terms of technology, the XM Label is equipped with BMW’s latest innovations, including the curved display setup, which integrates a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Other notable features include a head-up display for enhanced driver information, a top-of-the-line 20-speaker Bowers & Wilkins Diamond sound system, and adaptive M suspension for optimized handling and ride comfort.

However, the XM Label’s most impressive attribute lies in its powertrain. It employs a plug-in hybrid system that combines a formidable 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with an electric motor. The combustion engine alone produces 580 horsepower and 720 Nm of torque. The electric motor, powered by a 25.7 kW lithium-ion battery, contributes an additional 185 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque.

When working in concert, this hybrid powertrain delivers a staggering combined output of 740 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. The electric component of the system is capable of providing an all-electric driving range of 76 to 82 kilometres, adding a degree of efficiency to this performance behemoth.

Power is distributed to all four wheels through an 8-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. Drivers can select from three distinct drive modes via the M Hybrid button on the centre console, allowing for customization of the driving experience.

In terms of performance metrics, the XM Label is electronically limited to a top speed of 250 km/h, which can be increased to 290 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.8 seconds, showcasing its supercar-rivaling capabilities.

As an added convenience for owners, BMW includes a complimentary Wallbox charger with each XM Label, facilitating home charging of the vehicle’s hybrid battery system.

This limited edition XM Label represents the pinnacle of BMW’s M performance lineup, combining extreme power, advanced technology, and exclusive design elements in a package that’s sure to appeal to the most discerning automotive enthusiasts.
