BMW is set to add another offering to its extensive range of electric vehicles, which currently includes the i7 and i4 sedan, iX and iX1 SUVs. Soon after the launch of the performance-spec iX xDrive50, BMW is upping the game with the introduction of the i50 M60. The new i5 will head to our shores via the CBU route and interested customers can book one via either BMW’s online shop or physical dealership. The deliveries of the new i5 M60 will begin in May 2024.
The BMW i5 M60 is the flagship performance trim of the electric sedan. Its twin electric motors combine to belt out 601PS of power and 820Nm of torque. The latter is even more than the current-gen BMW M5 and helps it to catapult from a standstill to 100kmph in under 3.8 seconds. If you aim to cover longer distances, the i5 M60 offers a claimed range of up to 516km on a single charge.
Coming to the battery specifications of the i5 M60, it features an 81.2kWh battery pack that channels power to both electric motors. The battery pack also supports fast charging of up to 205kW, taking around 30 minutes for 10-80% charge. A more accessible 22kW AC fast charger takes around four and a half hours for a full charge.
The BMW i5 M60 also boasts several sporty elements inside and out differentiating the performance model from the regular i5. These elements include an enclosed kidney grille with a gloss black finish, sportier front and rear bumpers, sporty M alloy wheels and carbon fibre caps for side mirrors. On the inside, the i5 M60 features an all-black dashboard with red inserts, M steering wheel and sports seats.
