BMW India has extended the 7 Series family with two new additions — i7 M70 xDrive and 740d M Sport. The 740d M Sport comes at INR 1.81 crore and is locally assembled while the i7 M70 xDrive comes at INR 2.50 crore and retails via the CBU route.
First All-Electric BMW M In India
The new i7 M70 xDrive is the first all-electric M model that goes on sale in the Indian market. The i7 M70 comes with a gross battery capacity of 101.7kWh, which channels power to twin electric motors mounted at each axle. The combined power and torque output of the i7 M70 stand at 650PS and 1015Nm, respectively.
While the performance is impressive, what’s also impressive is the claimed range which stands at 560km on a single charge. On the features front, the BMW i7 M70 xDrive offers adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go function, rear-wheel steering, 2-axle adaptive air suspension, multiple driving modes and a gigantic 31.3-inch 8K theatre display for the rear passengers.
Straight-Six Good ol’ Diesel
BMW has also added the new 740d M Sport variant to the 7 Series offering the good ol’ 3.0L straight-six diesel mill. It churns out 286PS of power at 4000rpm and 650Nm of torque between 1500rpm and 2500rpm. The engine is further assisted by a mild-hybrid setup offering 18PS of power and 200Nm of torque for a brief amount of time. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels only via an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Speaking of its features, the 7 Series 740d M Sport comes with an M Sport body kit, adaptive LED headlights, 2-axle air suspension, 36-speaker Bowers and Wilkins sound system, surround-view camera and a 31.3-inch 8K theatre display.
