Audi RS6 GT takes performance wagons up a notch

Audi has revealed the RS6 Avant GT, the highest-grade station wagon Audi has ever produced. Carrying design inspiration from the project RS 6 GTO concept, it is limited to 660 units worldwide and finished in a unique Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO-inspired livery. In addition, the RS6 Avant GT carries a slew of performance and design enhancements making it worthy of the super wagon tag.

There are a couple of design changes, apart from that sweet-looking livery, which set it apart from the regular crop of the RS6 range. These changes include a carbon-fibre hood, air curtains on front fenders, 22-inch alloy wheels and a redesigned rear spoiler. In addition, the RS6 Avant GT also boasts a new front grille with vertical blades finished in high gloss black, a new front splitter and redesigned front and rear aprons.

On the inside, the RS6 GT features the new RS bucket seats with RS6 GT embossing on the headrests. Furthermore, details like honeycomb stitching for the seats, Dinamica black microfiber and decorative inlays for the armrests, the dashboard, and the centre console further accentuate the sporty appeal. Adding the hint of exclusivity, the centre console also boasts the car’s serial number out of the limited 660 units.

Coming to the performance, the RS6 GT packs a 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine. In the GT guise, it puts out 630PS of power and 850Nm of torque, an increase of 30PS and 50Nm over the RS6 Avant. Thanks to the additional performance, the RS6 GT can go from a standstill to 100kmph in a mere 3.3 seconds, shaving off 0.3 seconds over the RS6 Avant. The power is transmitted to all four wheels via an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

For superior handling over the RS6 Avant, the RS6 GT also features the latest version of the rear locking differential, which has been specially tuned for the expected performance. Furthermore, Audi has also added adjustable coil-over suspension to the RS6 GT, which lowers the ride height by 10mm. Higher spring rate, triple-adjustable dampers, and stiffer stabilisers ensure less body roll and enhanced agility.

Unlike the regular RS6 range that is mass-produced in the Neckarsulm production line, the RS6 GT is sent to the Böllinger Höfe assembly plant, which rolls out exclusive Audi models like the E-Tron GT and RS E-Tron GT. The final assembly of the RS6 GT is carried out by seven experienced Audi employees, who assemble the hood, the fenders, the rocker panels, the double wing, the front and rear aprons, and the adjustable coilover suspension. The deliveries of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT2 will begin in the second quarter 202 and the prices start at EUR 2,19,355.
