Audi Q6 E-Tron with new PPE platform debuts globally

New PPE platform

The new PPE platform, which stands for premium platform electric, has been engineered with Porsche for the mid-sized electric models. The new platform made its global debut with the new Porsche Macan EV and it is going to underpin a host of other models from both Audi and Porsche in the future. The ultra-modular platform is also capable of underpinning various sizes and body styles.

New-age powertrain

The new Audi Q6 E-Tron boasts advanced changing tech and impressive range. Both advancements have been made possible thanks to the new-age 100kWh Li-ion battery pack, which uses twelve modules and 180 prismatic cells. The new battery pack ensures a claimed driving range of up to 625km on a single charge with certain variants. In addition, the new Q6 E-Tron features 800-volt technology, which enables a fast charging speed of up to 270kW. While there are multiple charging options available, a DC fast charger can add charge worth 255km of driving range in ten minutes.

All-wheel-drive only, for now

The new Q6 E-Tron will initially come in two variants — Q6 and SQ6 — with all-wheel-drive as standard. Audi will add rear-wheel-drive variants with more range for certain markets at a later date. Speaking of specifications, the Q6 E-Tron offers 387PS of power whereas the SQ6 E-Tron offers 516PS of power. As a result, the SQ6 E-Tron can sprint from a standstill to 100kmph in 4.3 seconds, which is considerably faster than the standard Q6’s time of 5.9 seconds.

New Audi design language

The new Q6 E-Tron represents the design language of the upcoming electric Audi models. While it boasts a bag full of new design elements, including industry-first lighting technology, it is undeniably an Audi. Up front, the Q6 E-Tron features the signature Singleframe grille, which boasts gloss black surrounds and side air intakes. A distinctive D-pillar design and flared wheel arches at the rear give the Q6 a robust SUV-ish stance on the road. In addition, the new Q6 E-Tron also debuts Audi’s new lighting technology, which uses OLED panels and unique algorithms to generate an image every ten milliseconds.

Updated operating system

On the inside, the new Q6 E-Tron features 3 screens — an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, a 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.9-inch passenger entertainment display. All the 3 screens run on an updated operating system, which packs new visuals and functionalities. The passenger display comes with an active mode, which avoids any distraction for the driver and it also enables features such as video streaming, gaming and navigation for the passenger.

The new Audi Q6 E-Tron will go on sale in the third quarter of 2024. Prospective buyers of the new Q6 E-Tron will be able to place orders for the standard E-Tron and SQ6 E-Tron at EUR 74,700 and EUR 93,800, respectively.
