Audi partners Forvia Hella to develop digital headlamp concept for Q6 e-tron

Audi Q6 e-tron

Forvia Hella, an international automotive supplier, has introduced a groundbreaking headlamp design for Audi’s latest Q6 e-tron, in collaboration with the German automaker. This new headlamp concept stands out with its advanced features, including adaptive lighting functions and a high degree of customisation.

The innovative headlamp system developed by Forvia Hella distinguishes itself with its dual-function design. The lower section of the headlamp is dedicated to “seeing,” featuring Matrix LED technology with 14 LEDs that provide glare-free high beam capabilities. This allows drivers to use high beams without dazzling oncoming traffic, enhancing safety and visibility. The upper section of the headlamp focuses on “being seen,” equipped with a digital daytime running light matrix that offers unprecedented customisation.

The digital daytime running light matrix comprises 61 individually switchable segments per headlamp, enabling drivers to choose from up to eight preset light signature designs. Additionally, users can personalise their daytime running lights with custom “Coming Home” and “Leaving Home” scenes. This level of personalisation can be easily managed through a software-based app or the Q6 e-tron’s Multi Media Interface (MMI).

Forvia Hella’s headlamps for the Q6 e-tron are manufactured in the Czech Republic, with a variant produced in China to cater to the local market. The series development of these cutting-edge headlamps is carried out in Germany and the Czech Republic, underscoring a robust collaboration between international and local production capabilities.

This new headlamp system not only enhances the driving experience with its adaptive and customisable features but also aligns with Audi’s commitment to innovation and personalisation in the automotive industry.
