Bengaluru-based electric vehicle company Ather Energy will roll out a new performance electric scooter in the Indian market in a few weeks. CEO Tarun Mehta announced the new model, based on the 450 platform, at the company’s 10th year anniversary event. It is called 450 X and will sit on the top of the line, commanding a premium price tag. Mehta is calling it the fastest electric scooter from the brand to date.
He took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a video where some community members shared their first ride experience after taking the new e-scooter for a spin. The views make it apparent that the scooter will have a higher top speed. However, no other specifications of the scooter have been revealed yet.
The development comes shortly after Mehta took to social media to share that the company is working on an evolution of the 450 series, promising that the new model is an “absolute pinnacle of refined performance”. He said that the model will feature a clean, sharp, and minimalistic design coupled with peak performance. The launch is expected to take place early next year.
The EV maker is also working on a family scooter, which is scheduled for a launch next year. It will be designed keeping in mind a family’s needs, offering more space, comfort, and storage, among others. Mehta has said that the scooter will be sold under an affordable price tag, making it more accessible to families.
