Amazon’s fleet of Rivian-made electric delivery vans reaches 10,000

The e-commerce giant, which also holds a stake in Rivian, has already completed a 150 million deliveries with Rivian electric vans.

During a recent business presentation, Amazon announced that it currently has a fleet of 10,000 electric delivery vehicles from Rivian, operating in both the United States and Europe.

Expanding the EV Fleet with Rivian

This development is part of Amazon’s ongoing partnership with electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Rivian, with the goal of deploying at least 100,000 electric delivery vans by 2030. Back in July, Amazon had reported that it had more than 5,000 Rivian electric delivery vehicles in operation.

Rivian’s Production Boost

Rivian, known for producing the R1T pickup trucks and R1S sport utility vehicles, increased its production forecast for the full year of 2023 to 52,000 vehicles in August. This growth indicates the rising demand for Rivian’s electric vehicles and their suitability for delivery services.

Amazon’s Impactful Deliveries

Amazon’s commitment to electric mobility extends beyond its partnership with Rivian. The e-commerce giant, which also holds a stake in Rivian, has already completed a 150 million deliveries with Rivian electric vans.

Collaboration with Volvo

In addition to Rivian, Amazon is actively working with Volvo to enhance its middle-mile delivery fleet by introducing heavy-duty electric trucks. In 2022, Volvo announced its plan to provide Amazon with 20 electric trucks, further contributing to Amazon’s sustainable delivery efforts.
