Amalgam reveals McLaren Senna scale model with Sempre livery

Commemorating the legendary Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna, Amalgam Collection presents a meticulously crafted, limited-edition 1:8 scale model replicating the recently unveiled McLaren Senna in its special Senna Sempre livery. This exquisite collector’s piece, limited to only 30 units, celebrates Senna’s life and legacy, undoubtedly attracting ardent McLaren fans and art enthusiasts alike.

The #1 model in this exclusive series has already found its home at McLaren Automotive, delivered in time for the real car’s debut at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix. The #30 model is reserved for the Senna family, while pre-orders for the remaining 28 are now open directly through Amalgam Collection, with McLaren Senna owners also having the opportunity to purchase through McLaren Automotive. Those who are sold on its exquisite attention to detail would have to splurge USD 21,385, which is not a lot for people who own the real deal.

Each Amalgam model represents over 3,000 hours of meticulous development, meticulously crafted by skilled artisans who pay the utmost attention to detail.  McLaren Automotive provided Amalgam with confidential CAD data, which served as the foundation for these masterpieces.  The Amalgam team then meticulously reworked and refined this data through a combination of 3D printing and hand-finishing hundreds of intricate patterns.

The painstaking process begins with the creation of moulds, followed by casting every part in prototyping resin. These parts then undergo precision-fitting, painting, and final assembly. This labour-intensive process takes over 300 hours to complete for a single model, resulting in a stunning replica that perfectly captures the essence of the Senna Sempre livery.

Every visible detail is meticulously replicated, including subtle nods to Ayrton Senna’s illustrious racing career. The exterior boasts a striking Brazilian flag-inspired colour scheme, prominently featuring the Senna “Double S” logo on the blue panel between the vents. The bright green rear wing displays the Senna script, complemented by intricate green and white borders on the glasshouse and venting at the base of the windscreen.

The model’s front and rear bumpers feature watermarks of the race numbers Ayrton Senna sported on his Formula 1 cars during his remarkable five consecutive victories at Monaco. The side panels showcase a dedication matching that of the MSO team in Woking, featuring dot-matrix representations of Ayrton Senna hand-applied with meticulous precision.

Openable doors reveal the bespoke yellow Alcantara upholstery with green perforations, showcasing every minute detail of the interior. This includes the white 12 o’clock marker on the steering wheel and the inscription of Senna’s signature alongside his quote, “I have no idols. I admire work, dedication and competence.”

The Senna Sempre livery itself is a tribute to Ayrton Senna’s phenomenal Formula 1 career, including his three World Championships and his unmatched five consecutive wins at the Monaco Grand Prix with McLaren. Developed as part of McLaren’s ongoing partnership with the Ayrton Senna Institute, the livery showcases not only the unparalleled paintwork and craftsmanship of McLaren Special Operations (MSO) but also distinct visuals honouring Senna’s racing legacy. These visuals include bright and bold colours, bespoke interior treatments, and references to his tenacious drive for perfection, Brazilian nationality, and the shared history between McLaren and Senna, particularly on the streets of Monaco.
