Altigreen, Bolt.Earth partner to tackle electric 3W range anxiety in India

India has witnessed a surge in demand for electric 3-wheelers in the last-mile delivery sector, particularly in the L5N (goods) category, where electric 3-wheelers have achieved a 21% market penetration.

Altigreen, a prominent electric vehicle manufacturer for India’s last-mile sector, has joined forces with Bolt.Earth, a leading provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, to address range anxiety among users of electric 3-wheelers. The collaboration aims to co-deploy over 100 affordable charging points with 3.3 kW capacities during the first month, followed by the installation of more than 5,000 charging points over the next three years.

Rise in demand for electric 3-wheelers

India has witnessed a surge in demand for electric 3-wheelers in the last-mile delivery sector, particularly in the L5N (goods) category, where electric 3-wheelers have achieved a 21% market penetration. Altigreen and Bolt.Earth acknowledge the potential of this trend but are keenly aware that the current charging infrastructure in India is insufficient to support the electrification of 3-wheelers fully.

Eliminating range anxiety for electric 3-wheelers

Range anxiety, caused by the lack of readily accessible charging infrastructure, has been a significant deterrent for fossil-fuel 3-wheeler users looking to transition to electric vehicles. The partnership between Altigreen and Bolt.Earth aims to address this issue by deploying accessible and affordable charging points, thus removing a major obstacle to the adoption of electric 3-wheelers.

Amitabh Saran, Founder & CEO of Altigreen, expressed his confidence in the partnership’s ability to boost electric vehicle confidence among Altigreen’s customers, dealers, and lease operators. He stated, “We aim to empower users and instill confidence in the potential of electric vehicles. This partnership is a stride towards a future where electric mobility is seamlessly integrated into our everyday lives.”

Raghav Bharadwaj, Head of Strategy and Thought Leadership at Bolt.Earth, explained the company’s dedication to revolutionizing the global electric vehicle landscape through accessible charging infrastructure. He noted that the partnership with Altigreen aligns with their mission to position India as a prominent hub for the electric three-wheeler market, ensuring that EV auto drivers across all regions have hassle-free access to cutting-edge charging facilities.

Promoting cross-awareness and collaboration

As part of the initiative, Altigreen will engage in cross-promotional activities to educate electric 3-wheeler users about Bolt.Earth’s app, designed to help drivers locate nearby charging points easily. Both in-store and on-the-ground campaigns will be launched to publicize the benefits of the partnership.

Catalyzing accelerated EV adoption

Altigreen and Bolt.Earth’s partnership is set to accelerate electric vehicle adoption across India, recognizing the urgency of creating a sustainable EV-charging ecosystem. The joint efforts of these two companies reflect their commitment to advancing electrification and eliminating range anxiety for electric 3-wheeler users in India.
