Alfa Romeo has revealed its plans to plug the plug on the Quadrifoglio duo in North America. Order books for the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be closed from April 2024 onwards in North America while the models will be produced till June 2024 to meet the global demand.
Larry Dominique, senior vice president and head of Alfa Romeo confirmed the sad demise of the Quadrifoglio duo via a LinkedIn post. However, he did mention that it’s not the end for the renowned four-leaf clover. “I look forward to presenting the next chapter in the four-leaf clover’s journey”, said Larry.
Furthermore, the statement also mentioned, “This is the final chance to own a Quadrifoglio with only combustion engine technology as we continue our metamorphosis to an electrified future, but this is not the end of the story” hinting towards an electrified future for the Quadrifoglio range. From a common understanding, it is safe to assume that the models wearing the four-leaf clover badge will boast some electrification in hybrid or all-electric powertrain forms.
Speaking of the outgoing Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models, the performance sedan and crossover body styles are mated to a 2.9L turbocharged V6 petrol engine borrowed from Ferrari. This engine puts out 520PS of power which is channeled to all four wheels. Both models also incorporate a mechanical limited-slip differential derived from the Giulia GTA.
Alfa Romeo revised the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models with fresh aesthetics and more features to inject a new life. The facelifts surely helped Alfa Romeo since the brand recorded impressive sales results after the launch. Speaking of the changes, both model offers tweaked 3-element LED DRLs for both headlights and tail lights. Other changes include a generous use of carbon fibre across the bodywork to reduce weight, dark 5-hole alloy wheels with optional red brake callipers and updated infotainment and instrument cluster screens.
