ACMA farm equipment expo showcases innovations, fosters localisation

The 3rd edition of the ACMA Farm Equipment & Implements Localisation Expo, hosted by the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) on May 21, 2024, in Ludhiana, garnered significant attention from industry stakeholders and B2B participants. With over 60 prominent exhibitors showcasing their cutting-edge innovations, the expo underscored the vital role of localisation in bolstering India’s agricultural industry.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. A. S. Mittal, President of TMA & Vice Chairman of the Sonalika Group, setting the stage for a comprehensive display of products and technologies aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability. Leading auto component and implement manufacturers from across the nation, including Subros Limited, JK Fenner, Tata Autocomp Systems Ltd., Steelbird International, and many others, showcased their latest offerings, fostering engagements between manufacturers and industry stakeholders.

Vinnie Mehta, Director General of ACMA, highlighted the overwhelming response to the expo, emphasising the association’s commitment to developing a robust, self-reliant supply chain in the tractor and implements industry. “The 3rd ACMA Farm Equipment & Implements Localisation Expo has seen an overwhelming response, underscoring our commitment to developing a robust, self-reliant supply chain in the tractor and implements industry,” he said.

Mehta further elaborated on the growth potential of the Indian farm machinery sector, valued at USD 16.73 billion in 2024 and projected to reach USD 25.15 billion by 2029. By championing localisation and leveraging government schemes, ACMA aims to significantly reduce dependence on imports and enhance export competitiveness.

Looking ahead, Mehta expressed the association’s ambition to collaborate with The Tractor and Mechanisation Association (TMA) in future editions of the expo. “In the upcoming editions of the Expo, the Auto Component Manufacturers Association and The Tractor and Mechanisation Association (TMA), in partnership, would like to have a strong presence of international Agri-OEMs as business visitors in the show. This will be a step towards promoting the capabilities of our domestic industry for exports,” he stated.

The event witnessed a strong turnout of business visitors from prominent OEMs such as Mahindra Farm, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sonalika, MRF India, and others, providing a platform for networking and exploring potential collaborations within the industry.
