917PS Lotus Emeya goes on sale in Europe

Sportscar-level performance in a four-door GT package

The new Lotus Emeya boasts a four-door body style and claims to be a fast GT with sportscar-leveling performance. It is underpinned by Lotus’ electric premium architecture, which also underpins the Electre SUV. The Emeya packs a slew of advanced electronics and features to offer dynamic capabilities. To begin with, Lotus offers active anti-roll bars, rear-wheel steering, active aerodynamics, carbon ceramic brakes, adaptive air suspension and multiple driving modes. The chiselled design of the Emeya is also aerodynamic, boasting a drag coefficient of 0.21cd.

Blistering performance

The Lotus Emeya comes with a twin motor setup that offers 917PS of power in the top-spec R trim. Lotus claims a 0-100kmph acceleration time of 2.8 seconds, marking its entry into one of the fastest-accelerating cars in the world. To exploit the performance around the bends, the Emeya also features an active rear spoiler, which offers 150 kg downforce at 250kmph. Its electric motors draw power from a twin-layer 102kWh battery pack, which is capable of delivering a driving range of up to 610km on a single charge. Furthermore, the battery also supports up to 350kW DC fast charging with which the Emeya can replenish charge from 10-80% in under 18 minutes.

Feature packed

Despite offering all that performance, remember that the Emeya is a four-door sedan. Hence, it has to sit abreast of luxury sports sedans like the Porsche Taycan and Audi RS E-Tron GT. Lotus claims that the Emeya offers ample space for all its passengers along with a 509-litre boot space to take care of a weekend’s worth of luggage.

Other noteworthy features include five massaging modes with three intensity settings, interactive ambient lighting, a panoramic glass roof with opaque and clean modes and power-assisted doors and tailgate. Moving to the centre of its dashboard that holds a 15.1-inch OLED touchscreen infotainment system. The system runs on Hyper OS and also features Unreal engine, displaying real-time updates on the car via an interactive theme.
