2025 Hyundai Tucson revealed at New York Auto Show

Hyundai has updated its best-selling model — the Tuscon — with a comprehensive update bringing cosmetic enhancements and new features. Speaking of the design first, the new Hyundai Tucson gains sharper design elements, most centred around the lighting elements. Its unique LED DRLs now look sharper and gel with the redesigned radiator grille. The Tucson N Line features sportier bumpers, N alloy wheels, twin-tip exhausts and dark interiors with red trim pieces.

The interior of the new Tuscon has also seen an overhaul. The dual-connected screens are now incorporated into a curved glass casing, which is standard across variants. Other elements like the centre console, control switches, steering wheel and door cards have also seen a design refresh for better feel and usability. The rest of the cabin remains unchanged in terms of space and practicality, save for the repositioning of the wireless charging pad and an open storage tray above the glove box.

On the features front, the new Tucson finally gets wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system integrates a fingerprint recognition sensor for driver authentication. The safety net has also been improved with new features like forward collision warning, which works in conjunction with smart cruise control and other ADAS features.

In terms of powertrains, the new Tucson carries a range of engines ranging from petrol and diesel to plug-in-hybrid options. While the engine options have become cleaner throughout the range, a new baby mode further improves the smoothness for the passengers by dulling down the initial acceleration.

The 2.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine puts out 190PS of power at 6100rpm and 241Nm of torque, which is channelled to the wheels via an 8-speed torque converter transmission. Higher trims offer the option of a 1.6L turbocharged petrol engine mated to a hybrid system, which combined puts out 234PS of power and 350Nm of torque. The same 1.6L engine can also be specced with a plug-in-hybrid option, which uses a 13.8kWh battery pack and a 72kW electric motor.
