Volkswagen is amping up its electric offerings with the introduction of the ID.7 GTX, a performance variant of its flagship ID.7 electric saloon. This new model joins the growing ID. family with a sporty GTX badge, following in the footsteps of the ID.3 hatchback and ID. Buzz MPV.
The ID.7 GTX packs a punch with a dual-motor powertrain generating 340PS, a significant 55PS increase over the standard ID.7. This translates to a brisk 0-62mph time of under 6 seconds, according to Volkswagen.
While the official range hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s safe to assume it will be lower than the standard ID.7 Pro S’s impressive 709 km range due to the GTX’s focus on performance. To compensate, the ID.7 GTX boasts an 86kWh battery that supports rapid charging at up to 200kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in under 30 minutes.
Volkswagen has also tweaked the ID.7 GTX’s chassis and dynamics to handle the extra power. The car benefits from a sportier steering setup, and buyers can opt for Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) for customizable handling.
Visually, the ID.7 GTX gets a sporty makeover with a unique front bumper, distinctive LED daytime running lights in an arrowhead design, and black gloss accents. The interior mirrors the ID.7 Tourer GTX, featuring sports seats with red stitching and GTX branding.
Coming to the launch details and prices, the pre-sales for this exciting model begin in Germany on June 6th, with a starting price of EUR 63,155. Following closely behind are pre-sales for three additional ID.7 models that were revealed in March: the ID.7 GTX Tourer (also all-wheel drive and starting at EUR 63,955), the ID.7 Pro S (rear-wheel drive and starting at EUR 58,985), and the ID.7 Tourer Pro S (rear-wheel drive and starting at EUR 59,785). All four new ID.7 variants share a powerful 86-kWh battery.
