Signature Crown attributes but elevated
With the Crown Signia, Toyota’s idea is to deliver the key attributes of the Crown nameplate in an elevated crossover body style. The Crown Signia joins the Crown sedan in the US and comes with a unique exterior design, which claims to strike a balance between stylish and rugged. The front of the Crown Insignia falls in line with the new Camry, thanks to its sleek C-shaped LED DRLs. Around the side, it runs on dual-tone 21-inch wheels and its rear overhang upswings, accentuating its length while also benefiting from a higher departure angle.
Serene driving experience
Befitting the Crown nameplate, Toyota has put ample focus on noise reduction and comfort. In order to reduce noise inside the cabin, Toyota has used acoustic glasses, a dash silencer and an acoustic absorbing engine cover to minimise the noise, vibration and harshness levels inside the cabin. Furthermore, Toyota has also contoured the front seats of the Crown Signia to offer optimal support while the rear seats are designed in a lounge-like design.
New-age comfort and tech features
The Crown Signia packs a slew of features that you would expect from a premium family SUV. It comes with Toyota’s latest infotainment system that measures 12.3-inch in size and offers wireless connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The lower grades offer a 6-speaker sound system while the higher grades come with a 11-speaker JBL sound system.
Furthermore, the Crown Signia also offers features such as a digital instrument cluster, powered front seats, 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof, smartphone-enabled digital key and a suite of connected car tech. Like other Toyota offerings, the Crown Signia also offers Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) features such as lane departure assist, automatic high beam and pre-collision systems.
Frugal hybrid powertrain
As we mentioned earlier, the Crown Signia comes with a hybrid all-wheel-drive powertrain as standard. The hybrid powertrain uses a 2.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine mated to a couple of electric motors and a small battery pack. The combined power output stands at 243PS, which is channelled to all four wheels via Toyota’s Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive. The all-wheel-drive system uses an electric motor placed on the rear axle, which is capable of towing up to 2,700 pounds.
