Suzuki has displayed the 2024 Swift at the Tokyo Motor Show. The new Swift is likely to make its India debut towards the end of 2023 while its launch could take place in early 2024.
After an online reveal in early October, Suzuki showcased the Swift at the 2023 Tokyo Motor Show. While Suzuki calls it a concept, the showcased model looks production-ready and we do not expect any major changes for the production-spec model, as and when it hits the market.
The design of the Swift has evolved with a curvier stance but a couple of design elements retain its sporty demeanour. For instance, it now gets a new set of angular LED headlights, incorporating L-shaped LED DRLs. The radiator grille looks smaller in size and features gloss black surrounds. Ample changes have also been made to the rear profile in the form of LED tail lights with C-shaped elements and a sportier rear bumper. It is worth mentioning that the rear door handles of the new Swift now sit on the doors, rather than on the C-pillars in the current Swift.
The evolutionary design approach can be seen on the inside as well. Its dashboard now sports a multi-layer layout and a freestanding touchscreen infotainment sits atop. The climate control seems to be carried over from the Brezza SUV and the same could also be said for the steering wheel.
What’s worth mentioning is that Swift showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show was equipped with ADAS. it remains to be seen if Suzuki plans to offer ADAS capabilities in the India-bound Swift or not. Currently, no Maruti Suzuki model offers ADAS in India.
Suzuki is yet to reveal any details about the powertrain specifications for the Swift. While it is said to offer a new Z-series and hybrid powertrains globally, the India-spec Swift could continue with the K-series 1.2L petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki could also offer the 1.0L Boosterjet petrol engine, which currently does duty on the Fronx crossover.
