2024 Skoda Superb Sedan, Combi breaks cover globally

Increased dimensions and sleeker design

The fourth generation Superb has grown in size, with an increase in length and height. The new Superb promises to offer better space on the inside while its sleeker body style improves its aerodynamic efficiency. The coefficient of drag of the new Superb now stands at 0.23, which is 10% lower than the outgoing model. Since the dimensions have increased, the new Superb sedan and combi offer 20 litres and 30 litres of extra boot space, respectively.

On the design front, the Superb continues to carry the understated design philosophy of Skoda. Up front, it gets the signature Skoda grille with dark chrome surrounds and sweptback LED headlights. Around the side, the Superb boasts a sharp character line and a new design for the alloy wheels. As a whole, the Superb takes the evolutionary approach, which doesn’t translate to a big departure from the earlier model in terms of exterior design.

More intuitive interior layout

On the inside, the Superb follows on the changes featured on the 2024 Skoda Kodiaq family SUV. The centre of attraction is the 13-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, which comes with a permanent internet connection. Thanks to the connectivity, the Superb supports over-the-air updates, navigation and a suite of connected car tech.

The new Superb also features Skoda’s more intuitive climate control system, which boasts three rotary dials. All three rotary dials feature their own display and users can press or rotate the knobs to use various functionalities of the system. Furthermore, the new Superb also offers features like powered front seats with pneumatic massaging, an optional head-up display, a 10-inch virtual cockpit, wireless phone charging and ambient lighting. Exclusive to the Combi and a first for any Skoda, the Superb also offers an electrically retractable load cover for the boot.

Cleaner powertrains with improved plug-in-hybrid option

Like before, the Superb offers a range of frugal powertrain options, including diesel and plug-in-hybrids. Speaking of petrol powertrains first, the Superb offers 150PS 1.5L TSI and 2.0L TSI with two states of tune — 204PS and 265PS. Both the 1.5L and 2.0L TSI engines come mated to a 48V mild-hybrid setup while the 265PS 2.0L TSI also offers all-wheel-drive as standard.

The Superb Combi also offers the gen-2 plug-in-hybrid powertrain, which uses the 1.5L TSI along with a 25.7kWh battery pack. The combined system output stands at 204PS and the power gets transmitted via a 6-speed DSG transmission. The Superb Combi plug-in-hybrid can cover 100km on sole electric power and recharge its batteries in 2 hours and 30 minutes via an 11kW DC fast charger. Lastly, the new Superb also offers a 2.0L TDI diesel engine that can be had in two states of tune — 150PS and 193PS and the latter comes with an all-wheel-drive as standard.
