Royal Enfield has finally launched the much-awaited all-new Himalayan at its biking festival, Motoverse. The adventure tourer was unveiled to the world at EICMA 2023 in Milan earlier this month and is now available for bookings in India at a special introductory price of INR 269,000 until December 31, 2023. Starting March 2024, the motorcycle will also be available across Europe at a starting price of GBP 5,750 in the UK and EUR 5,900 in other European countries. The highlight of the 2024 Royal Enfield Himalayan is that it gets the brand’s first liquid-cooled 452cc Sherpa engine, making 40bhp and 40Nm of torque. The new drivetrain also features a six-speed gearbox, ride-by-wire technology, and two riding modes – Eco and Performance.
Like the outgoing version, the new Royal Enfield Himalayan is also built for all roads, and for no roads. The motorcycle features a new steel twin-spar frame and uses the Sherpa 450 engine as a stressed member. The suspension consists of a 43mm USD fork at the front and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock, both offering 200mm of travel. The ground clearance measures 230mm, which is a 10mm improvement over the previous version. The standard seat height is 825mm, which is 25mm higher than the Himalayan 411. However, the seat can be further raised to 845mm, and with the accessory low seat, it can even be reduced to 805mm. The new model comes with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, just like the outgoing version. However, the tyres are brand new, and the rear wheel is now a radial unit. Additionally, both the front and rear brake discs are slightly larger than before. The front brake is a single 320mm disc, while a 270mm disc handles the rear wheel. The motorcycle is equipped with standard dual-channel ABS, which can be turned off at the rear.
Royal Enfield has also made some notable tech updates to the new Himalayan motorcycle, including a new circular 4-inch TFT screen. The screen, known as the TripperDash, can be connected to your smartphone via Bluetooth to display Google Maps data, and even control music playback using the joystick on the left switch cube.
The 2024 Royal Enfield Himalayan is offered in three unique variants: Base, Pass, and Summit, and is available in five different colours. The Base variant comes in Kaza Brown, the Pass variant comes in the Slate series, which includes Poppy Blue and Himalayan Salt colours, and the Summit variant comes in Hanle Black and Kamet White.
