Nissan brings fresh updates to the hugely successful third-generation Qashqai crossover. While it continues with the same underpinnings as the current model, the visual changes do enough to inject a new life into the crossover. In addition, a new N-Design grade featuring extended door sills and body-coloured wheel arches boost its sporty credentials.
Starting with the visual changes, the new Qashqai features an updated front grille with a triangular mesh finish, sleeker LED headlights with triangular DRL elements, reprofiled and sharper front and rear bumpers and an updated alloy wheel design that goes up to 20-inch in size. Changes at the rear are relatively minimal since the Qashqai continues with the conventional tail light design as opposed to the ubiquitous connected units. As part of the update, Nissan has also added three new colour shades — Pearl White, Pearl Black and Deep Ocean.
On the inside, Nissan has added an updated touchscreen infotainment system along with a few trim changes. Speaking of the infotainment system update first, its popular bird’s eye view now features a 3D view that showcases the view around the car from eight different angles. Moreover, the feature also adds an invisible hood view that displaces the feed under the bonnet while moving at low speeds. The instrument cluster also sees a slight revision as it displays a new layout in the sport mode.
Depending on the trim level the customers choose, the updated Qashqai features new touchpoint materials like Alcantara. New materials adorn the seats, door cards and other trim pieces to elevate the interior cabin ambience. It also features multi-coloured ambient lighting, which can be controlled via the infotainment system.
With the 2024 Qashqai, Nissan retains the innovative e-power self-charging hybrid system with the crossover. It features a variable-compression three-cylinder petrol engine, which is there to feed charge in the 1.8kWh battery pack. The engine has no direct link to the wheels since the propulsion is done by an electric motor, which can be directly powered via the engine in some cases. The Qashqai also features an EV mode, enabling the crossover to drive solely on EV power for a limited distance.
