2024 Mini Countryman S All4 crossover revealed

Mini has revealed the new Countryman S All4 that bridges the gap between the front-wheel-drive Countryman and the performance-spec John Cooper Works Countryman. The new 2024 Mini Countryman S All4 will go on sale in Australia in the first quarter of 2024.

Intelligent All4 all-wheel-drive

The Countryman S is the only variant of the crossover to offer an all-wheel-drive option other than the top-spec John Cooper Works. It packs a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine that produces 218PS of power and 360Nm of torque. Its engine also comes mated to a 48V hybrid system that gives a temporary power boost of 22PS. The Countryman John Cooper Works uses the same engine but offers 300PS of power and 400Nm of torque.

The Countryman S’ intelligent All4 all-wheel-drive system offers a notable increase in traction, safety, and agility, thanks to the intelligent delivery of power between the front and rear axles governed by electronics. Furthermore, the new Countryman comes with increased track width and wheelbase for superior dynamics and comfort. Buyers can also spec the optional 15mm lowered suspension with frequency selective dampers for more precise handling.

The largest Mini money can buy

The Countryman is currently the largest Mini on sale and the new 2024 model claims to offer great space and comfort to its passengers. Thanks to the increased wheelbase, the new Mini Countryman not only offers increased rear legroom but also increased luggage-carrying capacity of 450 litres. It comes with a 40:20:40 rear seat split and with all 3 backrests folded, its boot space stands at 1450 litres.

The new 2024 Mini Countryman features an all-new design, which will also reflect on the upcoming model year updates of the Mini model range. The new design looks sleek and carries the signature design cues we commonly associate Mini cars with. The revised design language also offers a low drag coefficient of 0.26, improving the aerodynamic efficiency, which should pay dividends in increasing the efficiency of both gasoline and all-electric models.

The interior of the new Mini Countryman feels minimalist, featuring a central round screen and textile materials. The presence of a panoramic sunroof — along with a lighter shade of materials — increases the sense of space inside the cabin. The highlight of the new Countryman’s interior is the round infotainment system, which uses an OLED screen. It runs on the Mini OS 9 and features intuitive voice commands alongside touch operation.
