2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata receives updates and slight price revision

Mechanical upgrades take the spotlight, with all 2024 MX-5 Miata models benefiting from a revised steering system. The new steering rack has reduced internal friction, promising smoother operation and enhanced precision, particularly noticeable during high-speed cruising and spirited cornering.

For the Club and Grand Touring variants, Mazda introduces an updated limited-slip differential featuring asymmetric lockup settings. This tweak aims to optimize stability during corner entry by adjusting lockup levels under braking and acceleration. Additionally, the Club model receives a new “Track” mode for its stability control system, elevating the threshold for intervention while preserving overall safety.

Externally, noteworthy changes include the adoption of new LED headlights and taillights, along with fresh multi-spoke wheel designs. A new exterior colour option, Aero Gray, joins the palette, offering enthusiasts more customisation possibilities.

Inside the cabin, occupants will notice significant upgrades, notably a larger infotainment screen boasting Mazda’s latest operating system. For the first time in Mazda’s lineup, Amazon Alexa integration enhances connectivity and convenience for users.

Differentiating between the Club and Grand Touring models, the latter misses out on the new Track DSC mode but gains a new tan Napa leather interior option, further enhancing the premium feel. The Grand Touring trim also remains the sole option for those opting for an automatic transmission, albeit for an additional cost.

An optional BBS/Brembo/Recaro package, priced at USD 4,800 for the Club Soft Top and standard on the RF variant, offers enthusiasts upgraded wheels, brakes, and seats for enhanced performance and driving experience.

Overall, while each update may appear subtle, collectively, they contribute to refining the MX-5 Miata without compromising its core brilliance. Notably, the quoted curb weight for the soft-top variant remains impressively light at 1,074 kilograms, following the traditional Miata recipe. The 2024 Mazda MX-5 Miata prices start from USD 30,150 and go up to USD 38,175.
