2024 Maserati GranCabrio makes global debut

The highlight of the new Maserati GranCabrio is its soft-top roof. Maserati claims that the new fabric roof is completely developed in Italy and offers a captivating experience. The soft-top roof can be electronically folded with a press of a button in under 14 seconds, even when travelling at a speed of up to 50kmph. The intelligent packaging of the folding mechanism has enabled Maserati to retain space for four passengers inside the cabin.

Given that the GranCabrio is a sports car, you may want to cane it down the mountain road with the open-top experience. To improve that experience, Maserati has added a few features like a neck warmer with three levels of intensity and a wind stopper, which can function with only two passengers onboard and folded down manually when not in use. Furthermore, customers with varied colour preferences get the option to choose the soft-top roof in 5 different colour options: black, blue marine, titan grey, greige and garnet. 

On the design front, the new GranCabrio is not far apart from the GranTurismo. It continues with the vertical light signature, large radiator grille with 3D Trident logo, LED tail lights and the unique ‘cofango’, which refers to the single component featuring both the bonnet and fenders. Maserati further offers six different designs for the alloy wheels, four of which are offered with the Trofeo version. The brake callipers can also be specced in five different colour options — black, yellow, blue, red and red anonized.

On the inside, Maserati follows its new design language, which we have seen with its recent offerings like the Grecale SUV and GranTurismo. One of its interior highlights is the absence of a gear selector, which frees up the space in the centre console. You will also find it hard to find any physical controls since most of the functions are incorporated within the infotainment system, which is not something we have seen manufacturers being appreciated for.

Coming to the powerhouse, the GranCabrio currently comes in a standard Trofeo trim. It packs a 3.0L six-cylinder twin-turbocharged petrol engine, which puts out 542PS of power to the roads via all four wheels. Owners have an option to tweak the power output of the engine with primarily four driving modes, excluding the ESE-OFF, which as the name suggests, makes the car go berserk!
