Ginetta racing car company has unveiled its latest model – the 2024 G56 GT4 Evo. The new car is set to make its debut next year in the hands of customers, and it builds upon the success of the original G56 GT4 that took a podium finish in the 2023 British GT Championship. The Evo package adds several noteworthy changes to the aerodynamic profile, including a visually striking new front and alterations to the rear wing. However, the main focus is on the redesigned bonnet and cooling system, which are crucial in maintaining optimal temperatures in both the engine and cockpit areas.
The Evo pack not only enhances cooling but also focuses on improving on-track performance by addressing tyre heat and degradation. The upgrades include suspension adjustments, roll development, increased platform height, and larger wheels and tyres on both axles.
Ginetta’s Director of Motorsport, Mike Simpson, has stated that the company has put in a lot of effort to achieve better top speeds while maintaining the Balance of Performance (BOP) management. The team achieved this by adding weight at a lower point in the chassis, which not only improved safety but also enhanced the car’s torsional stiffness. Due to the increased weight and higher ride height of the car, the Ginetta has become more capable on straight lines, making it a highly competitive car for both professional and amateur drivers, according to Mike.
Fundamentally, the G56 package has been overhauled in response to customer feedback over three years of racing, while still retaining the familiar 6.2-litre V8 engine at the front powering the rear. The power output is 500bhp, reaching a top speed of 265kmph (165mph) before being restricted by Balance of Performance (BOP) rules.
The 2024 G56 GT4 Evo has been homologated by the Stéphane Ratel Organisation (SRO) for international competition in the GT4 class, as well as various global endurance and sprint racing series.
Ginetta has conducted extensive testing of the new G56 GT4 Evo at various tracks including its Blyton Park test track, Silverstone, and Donington Park. The company also achieved victory in the recent 4-hour Ultimate Cup race held at Magny-Cours in France. Additionally, Evo components will undergo testing in the Creventic Middle East Cup to ensure optimal performance and reliability for GT4 customers in 2024. The company plans to produce 20 cars in its first year of competition, half of which have already been reserved by existing customers.
