The Volkswagen Amarok has taken the international pick-up truck award to home for the third time at Solutrans 2023. The truck was crowned the same award back in the year 2011 and 2017.
Solutrans 2023, which is the logistics and transport trade show in Lyon, crowned the Amarok international pick-up truck for the 2023 year edition of the show. A panel of 20 jury members was impressed with the capabilities of the new Amarok pick-up truck. The new Amarok, which made its debut in 2022, was tested on the Greek mainland by experts in October 2023.
Sharing details about the announcement, Jarlath Sweeney, President and Chairman of the International Van of the Year and International Pick-up Awards jury, said: “Following the IPUA 2023 Group Tests, held in Greece last month, the new Amarok impressed. Although a collaboration project, the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles Design Team has managed to maintain the company’s unique styling and driving traits, which customers will testify.
The Amarok continues to beat its competition and the new award seals the win at the 2023 edition of the international pick-up truck category, after securing the win in 2011 and 2017 editions of the event as well. “This seventh running of the IPUA sees the new generation Amarok adding to the titles won in 2011 and again in 2017, with the upgraded version”, Sweeney further added.
Speaking on the third award presentation for the Amarok, Karl Bernqvist, Member of the Brand Management board responsible for Procurement at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said: “The Amarok is a pick-up that delivers reliable performance, both on and off the road. It impressed the jury in both cases. The ‘International Pick-up Award’ for 2024 and 2025 means that Amarok has already achieved the ‘treble’ in just 14 years of production. This demonstration of trust honours the entire team at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. We would like to say thank you!”
