Steelbird unveils Fighter Helmet, accelerates expansion

Steelbird Helmets, a leading manufacturer in the helmet industry, has announced the launch of its latest innovation, the Fighter Helmet. This advanced product boasts unparalleled durability and strength, crafted from high-impact thermoplastic material and certified by both the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), adhering to stringent safety standards.

The Fighter Helmet promises an exceptional riding experience with its advanced airflow ventilation system, keeping riders cool and comfortable even during intense journeys. Incorporating high-density EPS, it offers superior impact absorption, ensuring maximum protection on the road. Moreover, its replaceable and washable interior, wind deflector, and reflective elements around the neck area enhance visibility during night rides.

Designed with practicality in mind, the Fighter Helmet features a polycarbonate anti-scratch visor, a micrometric buckle for secure fastening, and a quick-release visor mechanism for effortless replacement. Its sleek aerodynamic design minimises wind resistance, while the polycarbonate spoiler in painted black and chrome finish adds a sporty touch.

Catering to varying light conditions, the Fighter Helmet includes an inner sunshield with adjustable visibility. Additionally, it is available with a 5.2 Smart Bluetooth option, offering 48 hours of talk time, 110 hours of standby, and voice-controlled navigation. The Anti Fog Shield Pin Lock-30 & Pin Lock-70 provide resistance against fogging.

Steelbird Hi-Tech India Limited, the company behind the Fighter Helmet, has ambitious targets for the 2024-25 fiscal year, aiming to market 10 million helmets. To achieve this milestone, the company is undertaking substantial growth initiatives, including expanding manufacturing capacity at its existing plants in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh, and potentially establishing a new state-of-the-art facility in southern India, near Hosur.

The Baddi plant’s expansion involves integrating new machinery, production lines, an automated paint shop, and a robotic visor coating system. Additionally, the company has procured additional land in Baddi, allocating a capital expenditure (capex) of INR 105 crore for this endeavour. Upon completion, the production capacity at the Baddi plant will increase to 45,000 to 50,000 units per day.

For the proposed new facility in southern India, Steelbird plans an initial investment of INR 100 crore, with a total capex over two years estimated at INR 250 crore. The plant is anticipated to commence operations within the next two years and will cater to the aftermarket and OEM demands in the region.

In the ongoing fiscal year, the company plans to introduce 70 new helmet models with advanced features such as Bluetooth integration and airflow technology. Building on impressive sales figures of over 8 million units globally in 2023, the company aims to elevate overall production to 15 million helmets annually by the end of the subsequent year.

Mr. Rajeev Kapur, Managing Director of Steelbird Hi-Tech India Limited, emphasised the company’s commitment to road safety, citing alarming statistics from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the need for urgent action. He projected a topline exceeding INR 900 crore for the current fiscal year and a turnover of INR 1,300 crore by 2026-27, reflecting the company’s ambitious growth plans.
