The choker in question traces its origins back to Maharaja Bhupendra Singh of Patiala, who had commissioned Cartier to create this exquisite piece. Interestingly, its history includes a chapter of controversy, as it is believed to have been taken during the British occupation of India. Subsequently, Cartier reportedly repurchased the choker at an auction years later.
